Last year the new bell schedule was a result of legislation passed and signed into law on October 13, 2019, by Governor Gavin Newsom (Senate Bill 328, Pupil Attendance: School Start Time). SB 328 requires that the school day for high schools begins no earlier than 8:30 a.m., and took effect July 1, 2022. The schedule has been adjusted this year, please note the differences.

Dress Code & Cell Phone Use
Appropriate School Attire - SHHS does have a dress code that is in line with the District's newly revised policies. Last year, students from around the District worked together to update the old policy for use this school year. The newly updated dress code can be found on the district site and also in the Lancer Student Handbook. Please review these with your student to ensure that the policy is fully understood.
Cell Phone Use - SHHS also has a cell phone policy in place that can be found in the Lancer Student Handbook and should be reviewed with your student. Cell phones should only be used during non-class times such as during break or lunch unless otherwise permitted by a staff member. Cell phones should be turned off and put away during class time. Teachers may have different individual classroom policies regarding cell phone use.
